Who can be an Ambassador Athlete?
Any Womens wrestler, of high school or college age, that is currently rostered on a team. You must have a social media platform to post about your Ambassador Activities.
Where will you perform your role as an Ambassador Athlete?
You will only go to locations that you choose and that you are comfortable with. Make Wrestling M.I.N.E. will not assign you to practices, or events, and will not provide information to any outside organizations about who our Ambassador Athletes are. This includes organizations that Make Wrestling M.I.N.E has verified as legitimate organizations. If an Ambassador Athlete is featured on our website the only information that will be provided is a photo, first name, and a short article describing why the Ambassador Athlete is featured.
Why would someone become an Ambassador Athlete for Make Wrestling M.I.N.E.?
This is an opportunity to give back to the community and to the sport of wrestling. You are probably already doing what Ambassador Athletes do, so why not get involved at a deeper level. You can learn more about the obstacles Women face in the sport, and you may be able to improve the future of the sport.
The Ambassador Athlete’s primary role is to mentor along the M.I.N.E. acronym, and to be an example for younger athletes in performing that role.
MENTOR younger athletes by being a positive influence.
Teach athletes and parents to INVEST in opportunities and behaviors that will have a greater impact for the athlete.
Teach athletes and parents to NETWORK to share information. A network at its basic level is simply a group of people with common interests sharing information.
ENCOURAGE through positivity, and teach younger athletes to encourage their peers.
Being an Ambassador Athlete does not require much time. We know that all of our Ambassador Athlete’s are students, and academics come first! Ambassador Athlete’s can certainly do more than the basic requirements, but that decision is up to each individual.
Requirements:
Attend 3 practices in a room of a younger age group then your current level during the wrestling season. This can be a middle school, a recreational or a club team practice. (In addition, college athletes can attend 3 high school practices).
Post on social media once a month about a positive interaction with another athlete, parent, coach, or official, and tag Make Wrestling M.I.N.E.
Be Positive when interacting with athletes, parents, coaches, and officials.
